In 2000, cancer was the leading cause of death in only two states. Recently, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released a 2014 report, which shows that cancer is currently competing with heart disease, becoming the main cause of death in the United States. 10. Missouri ranked 10th with 215.5 cancer deaths. 6. Vermont has a cancer mortality rate of 220.1, the sixth highest in 2014. Arkansas has a cancer mortality rate of 220.7, but heart disease is the number one killer in Arkansas, with a mortality rate of 255.6. Breast cancer in women is usually the deadliest cancer in the United States after lung cancer and bronchial cancer, with an incidence of 22.3% in Arkansas. The cancer mortality rate in Pennsylvania is 224.4, accounting for about 22% of the state's deaths in that year. Although breast cancer and prostate cancer are the two most common cancers after lung cancer and bronchial cancer, doctors do not know the wide causes of these two cancers.
