you've heard before: if you want a really healthy meal, make it yourself. 1. Put the oil in the pasta water

you may have heard that adding oil to the boiled water can prevent the pasta from sticking together and to the bottom of the pot. In fact, this is far from the truth. In fact, adding oil to your pasta water will make the sauce more difficult to stick to your pasta when you prepare it. It can also remove some nutrients from pasta and add unnecessary calories. Instead, once your water boils, add a tablespoon of salt to each quart of dehydrated water and stir frequently to keep the pasta moving.

2. Boiling vegetables may be one of the fastest and easiest ways to cook, but resist the urge to choose a simple way. When vegetables are boiled, a large number of nutrients, such as vitamins and proteins, are removed. Don't try to microwave them! Instead, try using a vegetable steamer, throwing them on a grill, frying them on the stove or baking them in the oven to lock in their flavor and nutritional value.

equate fat with calories

when cooking, choose olive oil or butter instead of margarine - because margarine contains a lot of bad fat and processed ingredients. Although both olive oil and butter contain fat, do not equate fat directly with "bad calories." Olive oil has the same calories as butter, so don't over compensate when cooking with healthier olive oil. Moderation is the key. In addition, look for extra virgin olive oil and vegetable butter to ensure the highest quality ingredients.

4. You may be used to peeling before eating fruits and vegetables, but resist the urge. Many fruits and vegetables contain their basic nutrients, such as vitamins A and C, or just under their skin, so eat as much of this agricultural product as possible to get all the health benefits. From cucumbers, zucchini, apples, potatoes, kiwifruit, eggplant, carrots and pumpkins, you'll get the biggest return. The exceptions to this rule are oranges, onions, bananas and asparagus.

5. Apart from the taste, many people think that nutritious meals must be tasteless and boring, but it is not the case. Eating unpopular food will make healthy food a chore, and you will be more eager for unhealthy and tasty food. Instead, season your food with spices like basil and chili peppers, which help boost metabolism. Take it easy. You don't need too much food to stimulate your appetite, but too much food will make you eat too much sodium.

6. This rule is especially important for vegetables, because vegetables are one of the most easily overcooked foods. When you overcooke your vegetables, two things happen: they become unattractive - who wants a paste pumpkin? -They lose a lot of nutritional value, which makes them lose calories. When cooking, pay attention to the vegetables and make sure they don't change color. Only cook for a few minutes.

7. Don't ruin a delicious and nutritious vegetable stir fry or salad with too much teriyaki sauce or ranch seasoning and lots of unnecessary calories. Use only enough sauce to add flavor to the dish, as well as salad dressing. When possible, use low sodium or low-fat sauces and condiments when cooking. Be careful with sugar! You'll be surprised how much is added to the condiment unnecessarily. No matter what you eat, it's the fastest way to stick to the same old things and eat the same food over and over again. By constantly changing your meals, avoid getting into a habit and losing the motivation to eat healthy. Use different ingredients every night, try different cooking methods, and even make your own recipes - anything that makes healthy eating fun and delicious.
